Espresso Martini
Only works with a fresh shot. Cold coffee will not foam.
Ingredients
- 50 ml Vodka
- 20 ml Coffee liqueur
- 30 ml Espresso
- 10 ml Sugar syrup
Method
Shake very hard with plenty of ice, double strain and let the crema settle.

If you're missing something
- Sugar syrup → Agave syrup — slightly sweeter, so use a little less
- Sugar syrup → Honey — loosen with warm water first; adds its own flavour
Where it comes from
London, mid-1980s. Dick Bradsell made it at the Soho Brasserie for a customer who asked for something that would wake her up. It contains no vermouth and is a martini only by glass shape.
