Gin & Tonic

Fill the glass with ice, gin first, tonic poured down the side.

Where it comes from
A by-product of empire: quinine was taken against malaria in British India and tasted foul, so it was cut with sugar, soda and gin. Modern tonic carries a fraction of the original dose.
